Welcome to Landfill-Technology.info

Landfill-Technology.info is the web site of the Technical Committee "Landfill Technology", which focuses on design, construction and operation of landfills with particular emphasis on the situation in developing and emerging countries.

The Technical Committee was established by two leading German scientific committees in the field of landfill technology:

On this site you will find a toolkit dedicated to 'landfill' professionals like landfill designers, managers, and local authority administrative staff. The toolkit comprises three parts:

  1. Fundamentals of Landfill Design, Construction, and Operation
  2. Regional Experience with Landfilling
  3. Examples - Case Studies and Constructional Solutions

The Technical Committee tries to consider different socio-cultural, climatic, and economic circumstances for their proposals. The scientific-technical levels equate to the guidelines of the co-operating scientific-technical societies DGGT and DWA. The examples demonstrate cost effective and sustainable solutions.

For the publication of the toolkit the Internet has been chosen to ensure a fast and reasonable dissemination.

We - the Members of the Technical Committee - hope to give some useful recommendations for the professional work of our colleagues.

Professor Dr.-Ing. Hans-Guenter Ramke
